My drawing table is once again covered in pastel dust. Last night I worked on the portrait and spent some time trying to get the right skin tone. My pastel pencil color choices are limited and it took a few combinations of colors before I found one that is close.
This morning I had enough distance not to fall into perfectionist mode and got the main features roughed in. The hardest thing for me at the moment is to slow down and let the colors work together as the layers continue to accumulate. It’s a bit different from the instant changes that acrylics provide.
